The surgeon will usually make an incision inside the cheek and create a pocket for the silicone implant to be fitted. Once the implant is in place the surgeon may suture it to the bones of the face and then proceed to close the incision with neat sutures.

During consultation you are obligated to inform a surgeon of your lifestyle and any medications/vitamins/supplements you may be using as such can affect your treatment and also prolong your recovery.

Each patient heals at a different rate, but generally after a week the patient can return to work and within two to three weeks return to normal activity. The final results will only be truly noticeable after about three months.

There is a risk of infection, bleeding and swelling and the possibility that the implants are misaligned or move out of alignment after the procedure, creating an asymmetrical appearance.
